Homemakers Services Program

The Homemaking Services Program provides in-home homemaking services for individuals with limited financial resources who need support to remain independent in their home or to support long term housing stability.

This program is administered by the Region of Waterloo. Support Services are provided by local homecare agencies. Services may include light housekeeping, meal planning and preparation, laundry and grocery shopping.

Who is eligible for the Homemaking Services Program?

To be eligible for this program, you must:

  • Be a resident of Waterloo Region
  • Be financially eligible for the program
  • Require the services of a homemaker because you are ill, recovering from an illness or injury, elderly or a person with a disability

How do I apply for the program?

There are three ways to apply for the program:

  1. Through a referral from the Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) at 519-748-2222
  2. Through a referral from health care provider such as your physician
  3. By calling 519-893-8494 ext 6342

What is involved in the application process?

A program coordinator from the Region will visit you in your home to review your needs and to assess your eligibility based on your income and expenses (and those of your spouse and dependents if applicable).
