Foundation Contributions

Fundraising initiatives and donations allow Sunnyside Foundation to provide enhancements beyond what the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and Region of Waterloo are able to provide. These enhancements include:

  • Music and art therapy, woodworking, horticulture and recreational programs.
  • Occupational therapy and physiotherapy equipment.
  • Specialized equipment such as ceiling lifts, shower chairs and hydraulic fitness equipment.
  • Funding for chaplaincy and palliative care programs.


Over the years, Sunnyside Foundation also made these substantial contributions:

  • 2015:  funded supplies and evaluation of the Young Onset Dementia Association (YODA).
  • 2015: purchased blanket and towel warmers for resident home areas.
  • 2013: funded adjustable dining tables to increase comfort and independence for residents at meals.
  • 2012:  funded Hush no Rush dementia care program to teach staff a philosophy of care that impacts positively on resident care.
  • 2011:  provided subsidies for low income adults for fitness memberships, foot care and massage therapy offered at the Sunnyside Wellness Centre.
  • 2010: built, equipped and furnished the Sunnyside Wellness Centre.
  • 2008: purchase ceiling lifts for resident rooms.
  • 2007: constructed accessible walkways, a gazebo and wildflower garden.
  • 2006: refurbished Convalescent Care and Respite Care rooms.
