The Employment Ontario program at the Region of Waterloo can help:
post job openings at our community Employment Resource Centres and/or use the Employment Ontario network to prescreen applicants.
connect employers who are willing to provide on-the-job training including work experience, job trials and employment with job ready individuals.
offer candidates that are prescreened, motivated, skilled and career focused.
How does it work?
It's easy. When you have a job opening, contact one our Job Development specialists at the Region of Waterloo and we will work closely with you to understand your job requirements and help you to find the right person. We can assist you in four ways:
Hiring Assistance, Screening and Matching
We will help you to develop a comprehensive and realistic on-the-job training plan and then we will assess, pre-screen and refer candidates based your requirements. You interview the candidate and make the final decision.
Funding Available for Employers
Your Company may be eligible for financial incentives to help offset the costs of on-the-job and formal training. Funding amounts are negotiated as needed on a case by case, individual basis
WSIB/Accident Insurance Coverage
The provincial Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities can cover the cost of WSIB for a period of time so that there is no cost to you and so that a claim will not affect your companies WSIB rating. Businesses with alternate forms of insurance can be covered by the Ministry's plan with ACE INA insurance.
Human Resources Supports
We can provide ongoing human resources support to help the candidate to be successful and to help resolve workplace issues and concerns
If You Are Interested
Participating employers must...
Be licensed to operate in Ontario.
Comply with all applicable legislation including federal/provincial human rights legislation, regulations and any other relevant standards, occupational health and safety act, employment standards act, freedom of information and protection of privacy legislation.
Maintain appropriate WSIB or private workplace safety insurance and have adequate third party liability insurance as advised by your insurance broker.
Not use placement services to replace existing or laid off workers or hire family members.
Provide opportunities for job trials, on the job training or ongoing employment.
Provide adequate supervision, feedback, and a safe working environment.
Provide the trainee with the same employment terms, conditions and benefits as all regular employees.
