Social Data

There are many organizations that could benefit by having access to social data, but they're not aware of what's available or how to gain access.

Community Social Data Strategy

The Community Social Data Strategy provides a gateway for municipalities and community-based organizations to access data from Statistics Canada and other sources to identify and better understand the social and economic trends within their individual communities.

There are currently 68 data tables available for Waterloo Region.

The Strategy is led by the Canadian Council on Social Development and is made up of 17 regional data user networks.

There is a regional network in most large Canadian cities. Members include more than 50 municipalities, as well as local police, social planning councils, health and family service agencies, school boards United Ways and other organizations working on the ground for social development.

The Waterloo Region Consortium is led by the Region of Waterloo.

The Consortium meets on an ad hoc basis and communicates regularly via email. Members include the Cities of Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge as well as the Townships of Woolwich, Wellesley, Wilmot and North Dumfries), local not-for-profit organizations and area school boards.
